The way to Successfully Have a 2nd Dog Into Your Dog to avoid Aggression

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

After existing with one dog for some time you have come to a decision to introduce a second into the family.

When you have selected the dog, introduced him to your present pet and offered him a place in your home you will need to deal with the logistical side of bringing him into your family. This experience will be perturbing for everybody so must be approached and carried out in a positive way.

The 1st and most important thing is that your existing dog mustn't be mistreated or in jeopardy in any way. The dogs should have already met before a home is offered. No tension should be obvious and the 1st meeting should be on neutral ground. The dogs should be noted meticulously and their body language monitored. Positive interaction is important between 2 dogs that are going to live together.

The nicest thing to do is take them both for a stroll before bringing them into the home together. The home should have already been prepared by the removal of any resources that could cause conflict. Food and toys should be removed from all areas initially. Depending on how well the dogs get on toys can be reintroduced very fast and quietly. It's way better to have a giant choice of toys than one; a single toy can be accepted as extraordinarily precious to a dog that's inclined to resource guard.

Research and preparation is how to choose a dog which will successfully become your second family pet. Observation and further research will allow you to manage a positive settling in period.

It is important to think about your own behaviour towards the dogs. Remember that you're also considered a resource. It is going to be natural to worry about your existing pet but do not leave either dog out of interactions. Some new dogs benefit from being left alone to settle and join in noiselessly, others need to interact with you. To stop stress developing it is important that you treat both dogs, when they ask for attention, in precisely the same way.

Encouraging Your Beloved Pet To Mingle With Other People

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

One part of pet training is socializing your pet with others and this is just as important as getting him house broken from day one. You’ll never want to leave your pet without the company of others in his or her youth, as this can lead to issues down the line.

Below you will find what we mean when we say “socializing a puppy”. I’m sure some of you are just as curious as others.

First thing is to take your dog around other pets and people. Start with a park or maybe even a dog walk. This will help him get used to different sounds and new people.

If you take your dog around other dogs at a dog walk, he will get used to other dogs and learn how to behave around them. This is one of the best settings you can expose your pet to.

Show him that it is okay to allow people to pet him by them doing so. He will become more at ease and learn how to behave during visits around others.

Allow your dog to meet friends and family who visit more regularly so that he doesn’t bark at them every time they stop by.

Your dog can be more socialized by enrolling him in puppy training class also since he will be around other dogs.

Giving your dog love and attention is very important just as feeding, exercise and training is. You want to start all of this right away. Get him into a puppy training class immediately to give him a happy and healthy life.

If you need advice, seek books, or other pet owners for training tips. Just make sure to stay consistent with the training and don’t forget to add socializing for your dog in with it as well.

Aside from pet training, this writer also frequently shares knowledge about faux fur coat and granite sealer.
