Sunday, January 29th, 2012

People these days are looking for an “old world appearance” in their homes that only real hard wood flooring can provide. Despite the popularity of laminate flooring and the durable quality of the less expensive flooring options, real wood flooring is still high in demand and home owners are after not only the quality but the uniqueness and rustic finish.

Cheap laminate flooring has taken the world by storm as well as the sustained popularity of the less expensive flooring options, yet real wood flooring is still high in demand and home owners are after not only the quality but the uniqueness and rustic finish. It’s that “old world appearance” people want in their homes that only real hard wood flooring can provide.

Now, there is a process which used to only be used on bamboo, being used to change the colour of wood. It’s a steaming process and environmentally conscious people will love it as it contains no dyes. Often people assume that if you get wood flooring, it will be a certain colour unless you stain it. However natural wood comes in colours from beech to cinnamon, cherry and caramels.

There are constantly new styles of wood coming out as manufacturers work out how to cut familiar wood differently giving classic wood flooring a new look. Exotic woods continue to grow in popularity and wood flooring is being made from wood arriving from Asia, South America, and Russia as well as the classics like oak, cherry, pine, and birch.

Real hardwood floors outlast any kind of flooring and for those wanting to make a real investment in their home, estate agents will all agree that nothing will add value to your home like real hardwood floors. For those that fear the fact that is can scratch, they will be glad to know of the trend in hand scraped, distressed, and reclaimed flooring. These floors look classic and do not show much wear or scratches since they have a great deal of character interest to draw attention to.

Choices in house hunting

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

House hunting. It’s something that people with the ability and means to purchase a house in this current financial climate can actually find enjoyable. Or perhaps you have found yourself house hunting out of necessity because current rents are simply not doable, and you have a chance at scraping together a deposit, so it means you’ll be looking on the lower end of what’s affordable and simply hoping to get on the property ladder.

House hunters usually find themselves in two categories, regardless of what “end” of the market they qualify to buy. Those who want a brand spanking new build home, in a newly built estate, with clean walls and a brand new kitchen. Others find this sort of home soulless, and prefer to go for something older with more “character”. For buyers who can afford something nearer the top end of things, they usually have the choice between something with a lot of character, a large garden, and spacious rooms, yet with possible things that need doing. Bathrooms need redoing, and kitchens will need modernizing. If they look towards the “new build” end, they will likely find a large four or five bedroomed home, with a brand new kitchen and power shower, but the garden will likely be tiny, and they may find themselves too close to their neighbours for comfort.

For those that simply need to get on the property ladder and are looking on the lower affordable end, they also have these two options. The older home may be an ex counsel house, or a home in an area that is now not considered too good that “needs work”, however it may be quite spacious, and have large bedrooms and a fair sized garden. For those who can’t face any sort of doing up and are desperate for that super clean feel, they will find themselves stretching their budget to the max in order to get a small two or three bedroomed house with a postage stamped garden. However it will have a new kitchen, small but new.

So for those who relish ripping up carpets, hoping to find real wood flooring underneath, they may do just that in an older home, yet if that older home is an ex counsel house, you may be more likely to find concrete underneath that old carpet, and be better off putting down some cheap laminate flooring. It practically looks like real wood flooring and it much easier to take care of and you won’t have to re finish it every few years.

However many people actually prefer the neutral cheap carpets and magnolia walls that feel modern and provide blank canvas. Or they may prefer to lay down a brightly coloured carpet in an old looking room in order to make it feel more modern and comfortable.

The advantages of carpet tiles over other floor coverings

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Carpet tiles have been around for many years, and they are widely used in many countries. Despite this though, not everyone knows what benefits they offer and particularly, how versatile they are. Whether you need a floor covering for your home, office or business premises, carpet tiles are the solution.

The first benefit carpet tiles offer that other floor coverings don’t is incredible ease of installation. They can be laid on everything from laminate and concrete to vinyl and other materials without any need for underlay. As an extra benefit, carpet tiles are the perfect solution for spaces that are awkwardly shaped or particularly large in size.

What’s more, if you need to move them for any reason, such as relocating offices or moving home, carpet tiles can simply be removed, stacked up and placed in the back of your car. You don’t need to employ a professional like you would with other types of floor covering, nor do you need to hire any specialist transport for the move itself. Once you arrive at your new premises or property, you simply need to lay your carpet tiles down again.

The freedom to customise the design of your floor is another advantage on offer with carpet tiles. Countless colours, patterns and textures are available, so you have all the mix and match options you need to customise your floor design.

How cost-effective carpet tiles are is another point in their favour, and one which people with office premises in particular will appreciate. They can help you keep costs down, whether you have a large space to cover or you simply want to save money on flooring.

The last benefit of carpet tiles is how simple they are to clean and maintain. They can be vacuumed just the same as regular carpet, but if an area becomes damaged, it can simply be removed and replaced.

Buying The Right Carpets Leeds

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

The material for these carpets should be particularly resilient. With a sensible approach you should find the right one for your needs.

There are a wide number of carpets in leeds in a number of different materials. Most companies should be able to offer samples that you can borrow. Carpet Stain Removal The Easy Way

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

Good news, everyone – while there are a dime a dozen stains that could form on your carpet, our good friends at Stainmaster carpet have come up with some great ideas that could help you prevent spilled coffee, hot chocolate, gravy or just about anything else from becoming a permanent stain.

Choosing a Cleaning Solution

Start by using a good cleaning solution that is designed to work on your specific stain. There are many homemade solutions that work well. These are subdivided into sudsy foam, detergent solutions and vinegar solutions. What would follow next would be the removal process, but first you have to choose which cleaning solution is most appropriate for your stain(s).

Basic cleaning steps

Scoop up and blot as much of the spill as possible.

Vacuum off any particulate matter.

Prepare cleaning solutions, beginning with the first one listed.

To see if the cleaning solution does work, do some pre-testing – look for the most inobtrusive part of your carpet and make sure it doesn’t get damaged or faded.

Place some cleaning solution on the stain. Work outside going inside – start from the perimeter of the stain moving towards the middle point.

Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the spill for at least five minutes.

Blot with a clean white cloth until no more stain transfers to the cloth. Carpet fibers might get damaged if you try rubbing it off.

Rinse off the cleaning solution with cold water. Be sure all cleaning solution is removed from the carpet.

If you can still see the stain, repeat the process until either the stain is removed or the stain no longer transfers to the cloth.

If the stain remains, try the next solution on the list and follow the same protocol above. You will want to enlist a professional cleaner if after trying sudsy foam, detergent and vinegar solutions (in order) the stain still persists on your carpet.

Place white paper towel on the stain in several layers, once you are done removing the stain. Weigh down the towels with a nonstaining glass or ceramic object. Give it up to one night to fully dry out.

Re-texturize your carpet once dry by vacuuming it.

Have your carpet professionally cleaned every 24 months.

Keep your carpet and rugs in top shape with ramsgate carpet cleaning services.
